Amina Walker is a British-American designer whose work explores ancestral embodiment. Through historical references, inherited motifs, and quilted textiles, she represents the convergence of her heritage. She reveals, conceals and armors the body to symbolize ancestry’s presence fading in and out of contemporary identity and the permeable boundary between individual and collective. These elements reveal how past and present coexist through making.
