Embodied Knowing

Embodied Knowing explores ancestral embodiment, the idea that I’m not just one person, but a convergence of ancestors whose stories, energy, and craft live through me. The collection merges African American quilting tradition with British and Jamaican historical motifs, creating a dialogue between three cultures shaped by ocean transportation. The body is revealed, concealed and armored to symbolize ancestry’s presence fading in and out of contemporary identity and the permeable boundary between the individual and collective. These elements reveal how past and present coexist through making. It is ancestral embodiment made tangible, a testament that we are never truly singular.
